A Special Story Event－Vampire's Embrace[後篇]（Prologue）

Prologue：

The full moon in the sky was almost completely obscured by thick,black rainclouds.
I rushed through the forest as the light grew dim around me, driven onward by the pouring rain.
It had been a light rain at first,
but it had soon become a downpour,
and the ground was growing muddy under my feet.

（I wasn't expecting a storm like this!）

The road was overgrown with trees and bushes,
but I hurried as best I could to escape the rain.
All of a sudden the trees parted and I found myself in a clearing.

（What on earth? Where did this castle come from?）

A castle I'd never seen before loomed ahead of me in the darkness.
Something about its sudden appearance worried me, and I took a step back.

（But then again—）

The rain showed no sign of stopping,
and I was drenched and shivering from the cold.

（It doesn't look very inviting, but I need to wait out this storm somewhere!）

My heart was racing with fear, but I approached the castle and pushed the heavy door open.
As soon as I stepped inside, the door closed behind me with an ominous creak.

（Where am I?）

The interior was completely dark, and I stared around me, trying to make out something in the gloom.
Suddenly the candles in their holders on the wall lit, one by one.
I looked up in surprise as I realized there were four men standing on the stairs, watching me.
A regal-looking blond man stared at me with blue eyes that seemed cold as ice.
Next to him stood a tall, dignified man with red eyes wide with surprise.
Just behind him was a man with white-blond hair who looked oddly casual amidst the others.
He was flanked by a dark-haired man in glasses who stood stiff and straight.

（Who on earth are you all?）

As I stared back at them all, the white-haired man stepped down from the stairs and approached me.
???(Leo)：I didn't expect the princess to appear at a time like this.
Jily：Princess?
???(Leo)：Haven't you heard the story about the vampires?
I started at the word：vampire, suddenly remembering a story I'd read to the children I tutored.
Jily：A woman stumbles into a vampire castle—
Jily：And then she chooses a vampire to be the lord of the castle.
Jily：But that's just a story, there's no way it's true...
I was filled with a mix of disbelief and fear, and then a clear, dignified voice echoed through the room.
???(Giles)：It most certainly is true. However, there is one thing that is different.
The man studied me for a moment, and then smiled slowly.
???(Giles)：We waited for many, many years, but the princess never appeared, so we chose a lord ourselves.
???(Giles)：When this happens, the princess who stumbles into our castle—
???(Giles)：Well, she also finds herself already engaged to the chosen lord.

（Wait, what?!）

My eyes widened in shock and disbelief, but the man ignored my reaction as he went on.
???(Giles)：And that lord is—
The rain outside grew suddenly heavier, pounding at the windows and almost drowning out his voice...
