Giles, Chapter 1:
The sound of the rain pounding against the windows echoed through the room.
The violet-haired man stared down at me.
???(Giles):The lord of the castle is... myself, Giles Christophe.
My eyes went wide with surprise as I stared up at him.
(So what you're saying is—
(I'm supposed to marry you?!)
It was too much too soon, and I couldn't even begin to get my head around it.
(That's way too fast!!)
As confusion washed over me, Giles offered me his hand.
Giles:I will explain everything in more detail.
Giles:So please, come with me.
(Well, I can't say I'm not scared, but—)
I had no idea what else I could do, so I nodded awkwardly.
***
Giles led me to a room deep within the castle.
He explained that the castle laws were absolute, and that I could never leave the castle again.
Jily:So you're saying I can't even go home to—
I looked up at Giles as I started to ask my question.
His gaze had been steady the entire time that he'd explained things to me.
But as I spoke his expression changed, and it made me hesitate.
(I wonder what's the matter?)
Jily:Um, Giles?
I studied him in confusion, wondering what he was thinking.
Giles:Please be quiet.
(Oh!)
Without warning he caught me by the wrists and pushed me back against the bed.
His hands seemed unusually large as he pinned my hands down.
Jily:Giles?!
His expression twisted into a frustrated smile as he studied me.
Giles:I'm afraid I don't have time to wait for you to understand.
=======
Giles:I'm afraid I don't have time to wait for you to understand.
Jily:Understand what?
Giles's grip was strong as he pushed me against the bed.
He moved slowly towards me, his handsome face almost blurred in my vision.
A moment later his lips pressed against my neck, and I remembered again that he was a vampire.
Jily:Ahhh!
A strange shiver ran down my spine, and I began to shudder.
Giles murmured against my skin, his voice sounding oddly regretful.
Giles:Please hold still—it will hurt less.
A moment later—
Jily:Ohhhhh—
I felt his fangs pierce my skin, but it didn't hurt—instead a warmth seemed to spread through my body.
All my strength seemed to leave me at once, and a pleasant buzz filled me.
(What's going on?)
I felt oddly warm and content as my vision blurred and consciousness slipped away.
***
Giles watched silently as Jily slowly passed out, her eyes sliding shut.
At last he raised his head from her neck and wiped his mouth delicately.
He stood up from the bed, still studying her silently.
Then his gaze turned towards the closed door, and his lips quirked slightly.
When he spoke, his voice was quiet and reserved.
Giles:You can come in.
=======
Giles:You can come in.
As soon as Giles finished speaking, the door opened.
Leo slipped into the room, closing the door quietly behind him.
Leo:When I got here, there were a bunch of bureaucrats hanging out near the door.
Leo:It looked like they were trying to spy on you two.
Giles sighed softly, glancing at the door again.
Giles:That's what I thought. That's why I put her to sleep.
Leo:Was she scared?
Giles:Yes. But it was the only thing I could do, given the circumstances.
Leo leaned against the wall next to the door, folding his arms.
His gaze moved slowly from Giles to Jily, lying on the bed.
Leo:Do you think she's up for this?
Giles:Right now, I think it will still take some time.
Leo:Right. But if we don't convince her to take on the role of princess—
Leo:Well, it'll only end up hurting her, in the end.
Giles:I know.
Giles nodded slowly, turning again to study Jily's sleeping face.
=======
The next day—
I woke up with a start, and stared around the room wildly.
(This is that room from before I fell asleep.)
(Does that mean it wasn't a dream?)
Sudden fear and worry flooded through me, and I pulled the sheets up around me.
A moment later I heard a knock at the door.
Giles:Princess?
(Oh!)
Giles stepped into the room, shutting the door behind him.
The wound on my neck seemed to twinge at the sight of him, and I reached up without thinking and pressed my hand over it.
(Ahh, what should I do? I'm scared of you!)
My whole body was tense, afraid of what he might do next.
But Giles stopped next to the bed, keeping a polite distance, and sighed softly.
Giles:I'm very sorry for scaring you yesterday.
(What?)
Only a day earlier his eyes had been forceful and overbearing.
But today they seemed gentle and studious.
Jily:Okay...
I didn't know what else to say, and after a moment of silence Giles spoke again, his tone formal.
Giles:I'm here today because I have something to talk to you about.
Giles:Do you know why I did what I did yesterday?
Giles went on to explain, and my eyes went wide as saucers in shock.
Jily:So you're saying that women who don't want to be the princess, who refuse to follow the rules—
Giles:They still don't get to leave. And as long as they live in this castle, they become fodder, free for anyone to bite.
Giles:Yesterday several of our bureaucrats were hovering at the door, trying to listen in.
Giles:If they had overheard you, and decided that you weren't prepared to follow our rules—
(And that's why you bit me and put me to sleep?)
I wondered then what might have happened to me if Giles hadn't interrupted me.
Giles:I couldn't explain then, not with them listening. But please, try not to show that you want to return to your former life.
Giles:If you do, I don't know what might happen.
It was clear from his words that he was concerned for my welfare.
(But—)
That didn't mean I could just magically wish away my desire to go home.
I clenched the sheets between my fists, turning my gaze away from Giles.
I didn't want him to see the tears I was trying to hold back, but I could feel him watching me.
A moment later he reached out and gently stroked my cheek.
I lifted my head in surprise to find him watching me with a gentle gaze.
Giles:Officially, you and I are now engaged to be married.
Giles:And so, for the time being—
=======
Giles:Officially, you and I are now engaged to be married.
Giles:And so, for the time being—
Giles paused for a moment, pressing his lips together.
He stroked my cheek again, the gesture as gentle as the look in his eyes.
Giles:I will stay by your side, and I will protect you.
Jily:What?
Giles:I'm sure you don't really feel ready to see me as your fiancé.
Giles:So I don't mind if you think of me as your advisor, or your chamberlain.
A faint smile played around his lips as he spoke.
There was something reassuring about it, and I hesitantly smiled back.
(But—)
Jily:Are you sure you don't mind doing that?
Giles:You've been caught up in our laws through no fault of your own.
Giles:But please don't feel like you need to act tough around me, not when you're not feeling it.
(Giles—)
The knot of anxiety that had been buried tight in my chest since I arrived seemed to loosen and melt away, all at once.
Jily:Thank you.
Relief flooded through me, and with it came tears.
Giles:You're welcome.
Giles smiled gently at me, and reached out to pull me into his embrace.
***
Time seemed to pass by in a flash after that.
I slowly began to get used to life in the castle, where the days seemed quiet and languid.
Giles:Princess.
Giles:This time you stepped wrong with your right foot.
Giles, Chapter 2:
Giles:Princess.
Giles:This time you stepped wrong with your right foot.
Jily:Ack, I'm sorry!
Giles was spending a lot of his time teaching me the many things I needed to know as a princess.
Unfortunately, dancing was one of those things.
Giles:Stop tensing up, and follow my lead.
Giles slid his arm around my waist again, pulling me closer.
(Stop tensing, huh? That's easy for you to say...)
My heart was pounding, and my whole body felt stiff with nerves.
Giles:Your face is all red. What's the matter?
There was amusement sparkling in Giles's gaze, and it only made me blush even more.
Giles:Goodness me, Princess—
Giles:Are you imagining things you can't tell me?
Jily:Giles! Stop teasing me.
I was sure my face must be beetroot red, and Giles laughed suddenly.
(Ahh, every time I'm with you it totally messes with my head!)
I dropped my gaze away, and tried to focus on the dance again, and on following Giles's lead.
***
At last the lesson ended, and I stepped out onto the balcony.
I breathed a huge sigh of relief as I let the breeze cool my cheeks.
(And it's not just when we have dance lessons, either.)
My heart seemed to race every single time I thought about Giles.
(I feel like I'm slowly falling for you.)
〝Giles:I'm sure you don't really feel ready to see me as your fiancé.〞
〝Giles:So I don't mind if you think of me as your advisor, or your chamberlain.〞
I'd taken those words of Giles's to heart, and treated him like a tutor the whole time.
(But I think maybe, I might be—)
I felt as if I was finally stumbling on the truth of my feelings.
But a moment later I noticed a letter on the ground at my feet.
(Did somebody drop this?)
As I picked it up, a line of text written on the page caught my eye.
(Oh my gosh!)
I stared down at the words on the parchment, unable to believe my eyes.
It described a method for a human woman trapped in the castle to return to her own world.
(Does this mean I could go home, if I did what this says?)
My heart was pounding so loudly it seemed to roar in my ears.
(But why would something like this just be lying around here?)
I stared down at the parchment, unable to tear my eyes away from it.
***
Giles was walking down a corridor when several bureaucrats appeared in front of him.
Bureaucrat 1:Excuse us, Sir Giles.
Giles:Yes?
Giles stopped walking, studying the bureaucrats in front of him.
One of them stepped forward, and spoke crisply.
Bureaucrat 2:We need to talk to you about something important regarding the princess.
=======
Bureaucrat:We need to talk to you about something important regarding the princess.
Giles frowned slightly, and then sighed.
Giles:Very well.
He led the bureaucrats to the study, and shut the door behind them.
Giles:So what is it you wish to discuss?
The same bureaucrat stepped forward, meeting Giles's gaze.
Bureaucrat 1:We weren't try to test the princess exactly, but we wanted to know her true feelings.
Bureaucrat 1:So we purposely allowed her to discover a way to return to her home.
Giles:And? What is it you're trying to say?
Bureaucrat 1:She clearly showed an interest in returning to her own world.
Bureaucrat 1:She is not suitable to be the princess.
The bureaucrats exchanged looks with each other.
Then another of the bureaucrats stepped forward.
Bureaucrat 2:Therefore, we have made our decision. As per our rules—
Bureaucrat 2:Tomorrow all those in the castle who drink blood will be given permission to use her as they see fit.
Giles pressed his lips together, almost as if he didn't dare let himself speak.
He stared at the bureaucrats, his expression grim, his eyes sharp.
***
I'd finally cooled my flushed cheeks, and so I headed back inside.
I made my way down the stairs towards the ballroom.
(I can't believe this letter...)
I couldn't stop thinking about the contents of the letter, but as I hurried down the stairs—
Jily:Oh!
Someone grabbed me by the hand and pulled me into a rough embrace.
=======
Jily:Oh!
Someone grabbed me by the hand and pulled me into a rough embrace.
I looked up with a start to find Giles staring down at me.
Jily:Giles?
My eyes were wide with disbelief, but Giles only gave me a faint smile.
Giles:What a convenient place to find you.
Giles:Nobody is going to join us here.
(Hang on—)
I felt as if I could see sorrow and pain lurking in Giles's eyes.
Jily:Did something happen?
I turned to face Giles properly, and he reached up to touch my cheek.
Giles:No. However, I do have something I want to ask you.
Jily:What is it?
Giles:Jily—
Giles:Do you want to return to your home?
My heart began to clamor with excitement at his words.
Jily:I—
And yet, I couldn't find an answer to his question.
Ever since I'd found that piece of parchment, I'd been filled with confusion.
(Why do I feel this way?)
I hesitated, searching for an answer, and Giles spoke again.
Giles:Nobody else is going to come through here and interrupt us.
Giles:Please, tell me how you really feel.
=======
Giles:Nobody else is going to come through here and interrupt us.
Giles:Please, tell me how you really feel.
Giles's gaze was serious as he spoke, and I looked away.
(I should tell you the truth, shouldn't I?)
Jily:There's a part of me that wants to return home.
Giles:I see.
(It's true that I feel that way. But—)
I looked up again to find that Giles had dropped his gaze.
I hesitated for a moment, then made up my mind to speak.
Jily:But more than that—
〝Giles:The lord of the castle is... myself, Giles Christophe.〞
〝Giles:I will stay by your side, and I will protect you.〞
〝Giles:But please don't feel like you need to act tough around me, not when you're not feeling it.〞
All my memories of Giles seemed to flash through my mind, and I finally found the words I was looking for.
(Somehow, somewhere along the way—)
My heart seemed filled with emotion, and I looked Giles directly in the eye as I said,
Jily:I love you, Giles.
=======
Jily:I love you, Giles.
As I spoke the words, Giles's eyes widened in surprise.
But it was only for a moment, and then he sighed softly.
His arms around me tightened, his grip surprisingly strong.
Giles:You're a foolish girl.
Giles:This may be your last chance to return to your home.
Jily:I know.
Jily:But even so, I want to be with you.
(I would be lying if I said I had no regrets.)
(But they don't compare to the idea of having to part with you.)
Full of determination, I stared up into his deep red eyes, and he smiled suddenly.
Giles:In that case, the answer is easy.
He reached up, his fingers twining in my hair.
He pushed my hair gently away from my neck, his fingers chilly against my skin.
Giles:I love you too, Jily.
His voice was a low purr as he moved his lips towards my neck...

Giles, Chapter 3-Sweet Ending:
Giles:I love you too, Jily.
Giles's voice was a low purr as he moved his lips towards my neck.
(Ohhhh!)
His fangs pierced my skin, and a sweet thrill shivered through my whole body.
(Last time I was scared and confused, but—)
(If this means I can be with you forever—)
(Then I'm not afraid. I'll never be afraid again.)
Giles's gaze seemed to bore into me, until it was all I could see.
Jily:Giles—
My thoughts were murky, and my vision was fading, but I gasped his name softly.
I faintly felt his fingers against my cheek, and his voice seemed to come from far away.
Giles:I really do love you, Jily.
Giles:That's why this is my last moment with you.
(Wait, what?)
Giles:Even though we'll be apart, I will always wish for your eternal happiness.
Jily:Gil—
(What are you saying?!)
My voice was gone, and I couldn't even finish speaking his name.
I felt myself collapsing against him as consciousness slipped away.
***
Giles picked up the unconscious Jily in his arms.
He stared down at her peaceful, sleeping expression for a long moment.
A chilly breeze whipped down the stairwell, and he clung to her even tighter.
=======
***
(Nnnnn—)
When I opened my eyes, I found myself in a very familiar room.
The window was wide open, and the curtains fluttered in the breeze.
Jily:But this is—
(Ow!)
I felt a sudden stab of pain in my neck as I sat up.
Suddenly I remembered Giles, and all my moments with him, and my eyes blurred with tears.
(You returned me to my home, didn't you, Giles?)
I knew he'd done it out of kindness and love for me, but that only made my heart ache more.
(But—)
I stared at the fluttering curtain, a sudden hope sparking inside me.
(Maybe he's only just returned to the castle. Maybe there's still time.)
My body still felt weak, and my head was spinning, but I ignored it.
I stood up from the bed and began to walk towards the door.
***
Meanwhile, at the vampire castle—
Leo:Are you sure you're okay with this?
Giles had just returned from taking Jily home, and Leo was studying him doubtfully.
Giles:What do you mean?
Leo:You know that any vampire who returns the princess to her home will be banished from the castle.
Leo:But you've only just taken her home. You've still got time to bring her back.
Giles Giles studied Leo's expression for a moment.
Then he smiled suddenly, and there was a sadness in it.
Giles:You're right. And if I was my former self, I'm sure I would have done that.
Giles:But what I feel for Jily is special.
Leo:Giles—
Leo frowned as he stared at Giles, his expression clearly worried.
But Giles only continued to smile as he turned away.
Giles:Goodbye.
The words lingered behind him as he made his way down the stairs.
=======
***
(I knew it! Here it is!)
I'd dashed out of my house and gone running through the woods, looking for the castle.
I pushed the gate hesitantly, and it opened with a loud creak.
(Right, I'm going in.)
I pushed the gate harder until it was all the way open, and then stepped inside.
Leo:Hang on—Jily?
(Oh!)
I ran into Leo almost as soon as I'd entered the castle grounds.
Leo:Well, this is a surprise. Did you come here alone?
Jily:Actually—I wanted to see Giles.
Jily:Do you know where he is?
I could barely keep the impatience out of my voice.
But Leo's expression clouded immediately at my question.
Leo:Unfortunately, Giles isn't here anymore.
Jily:What does that mean?
Leo:We have a law that says anyone who lets the princess escape will be banished.
Leo:So Giles is gone.
(But that's not fair!)
Jily:When did Giles leave the castle?
Leo:Just a little while ago.
(In that case, maybe there's still a chance!)
Jily:Thank you!
I spoke the words over my shoulder as I turned and rushed out of the castle again.
=======
I ran through the forest, looking desperately for any sign of Giles.
〝Giles:I really do love you, Jily.〞
〝Giles:That's why this is my last moment with you.〞
〝Giles:Even though we'll be apart, I will always wish for your eternal happiness.〞
(We can't part like this! It's too much! My heart would break!)
(Please, please don't let me be too late—)
My thoughts were desperate as I stared around me, and that's when it happened.
Jily:Ahhh!
I tripped on a tree root hidden in the darkness, and stumbled.
I fell onto a large pile of leaves on the ground, but as I did—
(Oh!)
I felt strong arms wrapping around my waist, and I looked up in surprise.
Giles:You're—
(No way!)
Giles was staring down at me, his eyes wide with surprise.
Jily:Giles—
My heart was racing as I blinked up at him.
(There's so many things I need to tell you, and yet—)
My feelings were such a tangled mess that I couldn't find the words.
Giles:You're a foolish girl.
Giles wrapped his arms tightly around me.
(I found you!)
Happiness at seeing him again filled me up inside.
I reached up and wrapped my arms around him in return.
=======
Giles's arms were strong and sure around me, and I looked up at him.
Jily:You're the foolish one.
Jily:Why did you go ahead and decide everything on your own?
Giles's lips quirked at my words, but he said nothing.
I took that as a good sign, and pressed on.
Jily:No matter what happens, I want to be with you. I already decided that.
Jily:Please, take me with you, wherever you go.
Giles:Jily—
I could see emotions wavering in Giles's gaze as he stared at me.
Giles:Goodness. You really are something.
Giles:I can't return to the castle. Are you still prepared to stay with me forever?
Jily:I am.
Jily:All I've ever wanted from the start is to be with you.
(And at last I've finally been able to tell you how I feel.)
I felt elated to finally put it into words, and I smiled brightly up at him.
Giles stared down at me, and his expression relaxed into a smile as well.
Giles:Then I suppose I have no say in the matter.
Giles leaned towards me, closing the distance between us.
His lips were cold against my neck, and then I felt his fangs pierce my skin.
Jily:Ohhhhh—
For a moment there was pain, but it faded quickly into a sensation that was warm and sweet.
I moaned helplessly, clinging to Giles, and he twined his fingers with mine.
Giles:I will make you into a real vampire.
Giles:And I will never let you go, for all eternity.
(Oh, Giles—)
The sweet ache inside me spread through me, growing larger and larger.
Giles:I love you, with all my heart.
Jily:Ohhhhh—Giles—
I could feel the chilly touch of Giles's breath on my skin.
I squeezed his hands tightly, my heart full of hope and longing.
(I don't care how long forever is.)
(I want to be with you for all of it...)
I closed my eyes, and a single tear trickled down my cheek.
I felt Giles's lips against my skin, capturing the tear and taking it away.
I smiled to myself, filled with joy and satisfaction as I gave myself over to his embrace...

His lips touched my skin, and a moment later I felt his fangs.
There was an instant of pain, but then warmth shuddered through me, and my body went limp.

Jily:Giles—
As I gasped his name, I felt his lips curve into a smile against my neck.
His arms tightened around me in response, and I shivered.
I closed my eyes, reassured by his strong embrace as I sank into darkness.
***
Giles carried the unconscious Jily in his arms.
He made his way through the castle until he found where the bureaucrats were gathered.
Bureaucrat 1:Sir Giles?
The bureaucrats all studied him suspiciously, their eyes flicking to Jily, still unconscious in his embrace.
Giles let his gaze slide across all of them as he made his announcement.
Giles:You have all decided that Jily is not suitable to be the princess, have you not?
Giles:As a result, I have chosen to take her as my own.
Bureaucrat 2:Wha—?!
The bureaucrats all began to mutter and complain amongst themselves.
Giles smiled, looking down at Jily's peaceful, sleeping face.
Giles:From here on, Jily is mine, and mine alone.
Giles:I don't care who it is, I will not allow anyone else to have her.
Giles's smile was disturbingly bright as he spoke crisply.
The bureaucrats all fell silent, and not a single one spoke up in disagreement.

(Nnnnn—)
I slowly opened my eyes, and felt a twinge of pain in my neck.
(That's right, Giles bit me.)
The wound still felt warm, and I reached up to touch it.
As I did so, a cheerful voice spoke my name.
???:Jily?
(Oh!)
Jily:Leo!
I looked up to find Leo just stepping into my room.
Leo:That wound was pretty deep, so I was a little worried.
Leo:You should stay in bed and rest.
Jily:Okay.
I nodded slowly, but sudden doubt was filling me up inside.
Jily:Did I really become a vampire?
I looked hesitantly up at Leo as I spoke, and his expression clouded.
Leo:Well—
Leo:To be honest, no, you didn't.
Jily:What? Why?
Leo:I think Giles was worried about what's really best for you.
Leo:And maybe that's why he couldn't turn you into a vampire.
(But that's not fair!)
(If he doesn't make me a vampire, we can't be together forever!)
Jily:Where is Giles now?
Leo:Hmm? I think he's in his room, but—
Jily:Thanks.
I smiled briefly at Leo as I hopped out of bed.
(Ooh, it hurts a bit, but—)
Leo:Jily—!
I pushed past Leo and hurried towards the door.
=======
***
Giles's door was slightly open, and I hurried into his room.
Jily:Giles!
Giles:Jily?
Giles looked up in surprise, but he quickly beckoned me inside.
Giles:I was just about to pay a visit to your room.
Giles:Are you sure you should be up and about? You still look pale—
Jily:Leo said—
Jily:He said I'm not a vampire yet.
Giles The words tumbled out of me in a rush, cutting off what Giles was trying to say.
Giles's gaze slid away from mine.
His expression clouded, just for a moment.
Then he looked back at me, his gaze steely and serious.
Giles:If you become a vampire, you can never return to your former life.
Giles:I couldn't steal that possibility away from you...
Jily:I don't need to go back to that anymore.
Giles:What?
I spoke the words firmly, and Giles blinked at me in disbelief.
Jily:Please, I want to be with you forever, Giles.
(This is how I really feel.)
My heart was racing as I waited desperately for his answer.
He reached out towards me, his cold fingers gently stroking my cheek.
Giles:In that case, let me say this again.
Giles:I love you, Jily.
(Giles—)
Giles leaned towards me, closing the distance between us.
Our lips met for the first time, and it was so very different to the times when he'd drunk my blood.
A sensual shiver slid down my spine, and I gasped.
Jily:Ohhhh—Giles—
Giles:Jily—
Giles:Please, stay with me for all eternity.
Our lips parted and came together again, and joy and pleasure seared through me.
=======
Giles:Please, stay with me for all eternity.
Our lips parted and came together again, and joy and pleasure seared through me.
(Oh!)
Our bodies tangled together and fell back against the bed.
***
At last the day I'd been waiting for finally came.
Thousands of stars twinkled in the sky overhead, as if giving us their blessings.
It was the day of my wedding with Giles, and we were celebrating with a party afterwards.
Leo:Congratulations, Jily!
Louis:Congratulations.
Albert:I offer you my congratulations, Princess.
Jily:Thank you, all of you.
I smiled brightly as I accepted all of their kind words.
Giles:Albert, Jily is no longer the princess.
Giles:She's now my wife.
Jily:Giles—
Giles smiled as he approached us and slid an arm around my waist.
Albert:You're right. Somehow it's already become a habit.
Louis:I keep finding myself wanting to call her 'Princess' as well.
Leo:I understand. It's because she's so adorable.
Leo:Even if she's not a princess, she still seems like a princess.
Jily:I do?!
My eyes went wide at Leo's words, and Giles laughed softly.
Giles:I know. That's why I had to make sure she wasn't the princess anymore.
Giles:I wanted to make sure she was mine, and mine alone.
Jily:Oh!
Giles's voice was husky and intimate, and embarrassment flooded through me.
At that very moment, I heard the drifting strains of an elegant waltz starting up nearby.
Leo:What perfect timing.
Leo:I want to see the first dance of this happy couple.
Giles:Then we'll be delighted to oblige.
Giles's smile deepened as he inclined his head to Leo.
Then he turned to me and offered me his hand in an elegant gesture.
Giles:My one and only princess—
Giles:May I have this dance?
=======
Giles:My one and only princess—
Giles:May I have this dance?
(Oh, Giles—)
Jily:I'd be delighted.
I nodded happily as Giles offered me his hand.
I placed my hand in his, and he drew me gently into his arms.
Everyone watched as we began to dance together.
Giles:I seem to recall you being particularly good at this dance.
Jily:Only because you taught me.
Giles:No, only because you worked so hard at it.
There was amusement in Giles's voice as he pulled me closer.
(Oh!)
Having his handsome face so close was enough to drive all rational thought clear out of my mind.
It was a miracle that I managed to keep dancing without making any mistakes.
Giles:You've gotten much better at this.
Jily:You're such a tease.
I smirked a little, shaking my head as I looked up at him.
But his gaze was serious, and I found myself unable to look away.
Giles:It's strange, you know.
Jily:What is?
Giles:The way I feel when I hold you in my arms hasn't changed at all.
Giles:I think perhaps I loved you from that very first moment.
There was a gentle smile on his lips as he spoke the words.
Then he leaned closer and pressed a kiss against my lips.
Jily:Giles—
(Gah, everyone's watching us!)

But he continued to smile as he studied me, our faces almost close enough to touch.
Giles:This kiss is my promise to you.
Giles:However long we are together—
Giles:I will always, always love you.
His voice was husky as he murmured the words, and then he kissed me again.
His second kiss was both deeper and sweeter than the first.
I felt as if I might burst with happiness as I responded to it...
