It was a warm afternoon.
A painting had caught Giles's attention when he was passing by Robert's atelier.
Receiving Robert's permission, he entered the room.
Giles "Did you model this painting off of someone in particular?"
Robert had been finishing up a painting of a bride and groom happily kissing each other at their wedding.
He stopped when Giles asked the question and turned towards his guest with a warm smile.
Robert "I did. They're acquaintances of mine that just got married."
Giles "I see.
Giles "That's why this painting seems so alive."
Robert chuckled as Giles stared at the painting with interest.
Robert "I'm honored to get a praise from you.
Robert "I went to their wedding a week ago.
Robert "I was so moved at the beautiful ceremony that I just had to try and capture that beauty in a painting.
Robert "I thought I could send it as a gift to the two, so they can have a memory of that wonderful day."
Giles nodded understandingly.
Giles "I can tell that it was a wonderful ceremony.
Giles "Even from the painting I can tell how much the bride and groom love each other."
Robert shifted his gaze back to the painting in front of him.
Robert "Thank you. The couple in this painting taught me that if you're with the person you love--
Robert "There's no bigger happiness than that.
Robert "Happily ever after does indeed exist if we try hard enough."
Robert's thought went back to the wedding.
The couple seemed so happy that their smiles seemed to be even brighter than the sun.
Giles, who had been studying the painting, slowly started to talk.
Giles "I know that there are couples like the one in the painting that can have a warm and gentle relationship.
Giles "But if I were to be a model of a painting, I doubt that it would turn out like this."
Robert smiled softly as he teasing said--
Robert "Are you saying that your expression wouldn't be as gentle as them?"
Giles smiled a dark smile.
Giles "No. When I really fall for somebody, I have the tendency to not be able to stop myself. If it were me...
Giles "I would've hugged the bride more tightly and have kissed her in a way that she wouldn't be able to think of anyone but me."
Robert "That sounds like you already have someone in mind."
Giles "I do."
Robert widened his eyes in surprise for a brief second before smiling.
Robert "I thought that you were always calm and collected in no matter what situation, so I have to say I'm surprised."
Giles shrugged.
Giles "And how about you, Robert? You're always gentle and collected...
Giles "But are you like that when you're in love, as well?"
Giles eyes narrowed, as if making sure not to miss any hints Robert might give.
Robert however, just tilted his head, feigning innocence.
Robert "Who knows?"
A certain girl's beautiful smile crossed Robert's mind as he answered.

The afternoon was lovely and bright, a perfect day for an adventure.
Rayvis looked at the sky through the window before continuing his walk towards the entrance.
He had finished his business in Wysteria and was heading home.
But a light-hearted voice stopped him before he got to the entrance.
Leo "Hi there. Are you done with business?"
Rayvis "Is there something you want?"
Leo "You don't have to put your guard up so much. I just wanted to get to know you better.
Leo "Especially since we might be spending more time together on duty from now."
Leo explained, trying to ease Rayvis's frown, but ended in vain.
Ignoring the friendly comment, Rayvis started walking again.
Leo "Hey, you're leaving already?"
Rayvis "I have a feeling you'll just waste my time."
Leo "I'll have to prove you wrong then. Do you have time before going back to Stein today?"
Rayvis "Can I say no?"
Leo "If you did, I'd tell you that unfriendly guys aren't very popular among women or men."
Rayvis stared at Leo.
Rayvis "I don't have time to waste."
Leo just grinned and ran after Rayvis who had started heading towards the entrance again.
Leo "What... or should I say who are you saving that 'time' for then?"
Rayvis "And why should I tell you?"
Leo "Ah, so there is somebody then."
Rayvis stopped walking but refused to look at Leo. Leo continued.
Leo "Perhaps that somebody is a girl who's a bit dense sometimes...
Leo "But it's like she has the power to see straight through you and give you the exact words you wanted to hear."
Rayvis's lips tightened.
Leo "You feel like you can rule the world when you're with her, and her smile lights up the whole room."
Rayvis "I don't know what you're talking about."
Leo "But you've stopped trying to walk away."
Rayvis "I just didn't want you to spread false rumors about me."
Leo started chuckling at that.
Leo "I'm glad you feel like talking now. So...
Leo "Are you the type that wants to spoil girls? Or do you want to get spoiled by one?"
Rayvis "What kind of question is that?"
Leo "No answer? Then I'll have to guess. You want her to spoil you."
Rayvis shook his head and let out a small sigh.
Rayvis "Me get spoiled by her? I'd rather be the one to spo--."
Rayvis quickly shut his mouth as Leo slowly widened his smile.
Leo "Her?"
Rayvis "...I'm leaving."
Leo "Sorry, I'll stop teasing you."
Rayvis looked up at Leo wearily.
Leo "Will you forgive me if I tell you my answer? I'd rather get spoiled."
Rayvis "I don't care about your answer."
Leo "Ah, but it's also nice to spoil the girl you like, being able to make her smile. Hmm..."
Pretending not to hear Rayvis, Leo tilted his head, trying to think of his final answer.
Rayvis sighed again but then gave a wry smile.
Rayvis "I bet... most men are like that.
Rayvis "They want to spoil the girl they like, but they also want to get spoiled themselves with her love and attention."
A certain girl came to Rayvis's mind, and his expression softened.
The same girl was also in Leo's mind--her smile etched in his memory made him smile as well.
Rayvis "I suppose I'll ask her what she thinks next time."
Leo "Hm? Sorry, I didn't catch that. What did you say?"
Rayvis "Nothing important."
Little did the two know that both of them were thinking about the same girl--
and how they couldn't wait to see her again.

White clouds drifted across the clear blue sky.
Nico "I've handed it to all the knights on break. All that's left is..."
This was the second day of Wysteria and Stein's combined training.
Two teacups were still left on the plate Nico was holding as he walked. He stopped when he saw who he had been looking for.
Alyn "You're mistake this morning--that wasn't like you."
Alyn and Albert were talking in the hallway; a tense atmosphere surrounded the two.
Albert "I'm sorry. I'll make sure it won't happen again."
Alyn narrowed his crimson eyes as if in thought.
Alyn "Are you... not good with mornings?"
Albert "That's not true."
Albert tipped up his chin, looking down at Alyn, and Alyn glared back when--
Nico "Stop fighting you two."
Nico intervened with a smile and walked over to them.
Nico "Here. Herb tea to ease up your sore muscles."
The two took the teacups without a word.
Still smiling, Nico looked at Albert.
Nico "I saw the lights on late into the night in your room, Al.
Nico "Were you doing something?"
Albert winced. He breathed deeply before slowly opening his mouth.
Albert "I was thinking over yesterday's training and trying to think of a good training menu."
Alyn "It's good to be hard working hard.
Alyn "But if you're going to make a mistake because of the lack of sleep, there'd be no point."
Albert's glasses seemed to glisten ominously at those words.
Albert "I don't mean to be rude... But aren't you the one who has trouble in the mornings?
Albert "I heard that you weren't at your best when a bandit appeared in Wysteria early in the morning."
Alyn "Who told you that?"
Albert glanced over at Nico.
Albert "Him."
Alyn glared, but Nico didn't seem to mind at all.
Albert "I suppose... there could have been a number of other reasons though."
Alyn nodded awkwardly.
Feeling the atmosphere get lighter, Nico smiled again.
Nico "Come to think of it, she seemed tired this morning too.
Nico "She said she'd been studying about the country she's going to go visit on a business trip soon."
Alyn and Albert frowned at the same time.
Alyn "She's pushing herself too hard again."
Albert "Yes. I like how she gives everything her all, but if she doesn't take care of herself first..."
Nico "Don't worry, you two. I'll make sure she sleeps early tonight."
Alyn and Albert's eyes met for a second before they averted their gaze.
Alyn "It's not like I'm worried."
Albert "I'm not worried, it's just... Well..."
Nico "Right. I completely understand that you aren't worried."
Nico took the two empty teacups and broadened his smile.
Nico "I should go give her some mint tea so she can continue her duties with a clear head."
After watching Nico leave...
Alyn "We should go, too. Don't make the same mistake twice."
Albert "I would never."
Albert looked briefly at Alyn.
Albert "About the menu I'd been thinking about…"
Alyn "Yeah, go on."
Albert heard the hidden passion in Alyn's voice and lifted his glasses with his finger.
The sun was bright, and the breeze was gentle. It was a beautiful day to train.

The moon casted a light silver shadow on the city of Stein that night.
Sid and Louis had come to Stein earlier that day for business, and now were having a drink with Byron.
Sid "You haven't been drinking at all, Louis."
Sid was the first to speak up--eyeing Louis, who was slowly twirling his cocktail glass.
Louis "That's none of your business."
Sid "Shees, you're as unfriendly as ever. Are you like this even in front of the girl you like?"
Louis "I'm only like this in front of you, so like I said, it's none of your business."
Louis turned his head away from Sid with a scowl, but Sid only lifted his lips upwards into a smirk.
Sid "Oh, really?"
Watching the two bicker,
Byron sipped his wine and quietly opened his mouth.
Byron "I can't tell you if you two are close or not."
Louis's scowl turned even deeper with those words.
Louis "We were never close... since we were kids."
Sid "Yeah, you didn't have an ounce of cuteness in ya even when you were a kid."
Louis "Shut up."
For saying they weren't close, they were oddly friendly, making Byron smile wryly.
Byron "I apologize. Watching the both of you...
Byron "It reminded me of two people who would argue similarly."
Sid brought his glass of brandy up to his mouth.
Sid "Are ya talking about Albert and Nico?"
Byron "Was I that easy to read?"
It was a famous story in Stein how the two were rivals, often fighting about who served Byron the best.
Sid "We're closer than they are, right, Louis?"
Sid said jokingly while trying to put an arm around Louis's shoulder.
Louis instantly slapped the arm away.
Sid rolled his eyes.
Sid "Can't you take a joke? I'd much rather be hugging a woman, if ya know what I mean."
Louis "I can already imagine her trying to escape."
Sid "I'd never fail at making a woman fall for me if I was drinking with her."
Byron glanced briefly over at Sid smirking confidently.
Byron "It sounds like you already have a woman in mind.
Byron "And you sound awfully confident that you wouldn't fail."
There was a hint of amusement in Byron's voice.
Sid "Alone together at night, drinking near a bed--of course I wouldn't fail."
Byron "And why is that?"
Sid "Ain't it obvious?"
Still smirking, Sid took a slow breath as if savoring the suspense in the air.
Sid "All ya have to do is kiss her and carry her onto the bed."
Louis "Is that supposed to be romantic? Because it isn't."
Louis stared at him with disbelief.
Sid "Then how 'bout you?"
Louis "How about what?"
Sid "If you were drinking with the woman you like, what would ya do?"
Imagining "her" in his mind, Louis answered slowly.
Louis "I want us to make a cocktail in the image of the other person."
Sid "Huh. I guess ya could call that elegant. And?"
Sid looked over at Byron.
Byron "I...
Byron "I want to drink while looking at the stars. As long as I can feel her near me, I don't need anything special."
There was faint smile on his lips.
As if he were also imagining a specific someone he would want to do that with.
The night faded into day, and all three of their cups were long empty.
Byron "That was... well, fun.
Byron "Come to Stein again someday. I'll have some good alcohol ready."
Sid "If I feel like it."
Louis "I'll leave Sid behind next time."
The three of them stood up, all of them hiding their smiles as they did so.
