Prologue：

This is a sweet, heart-melting Valentine's story about a certain maid...

I was visiting the town near Wysteria Palace to run an errand for the man I loved.
When I was finished, I started to walk back through the main streets.
I couldn't help but notice a long queue of women outside a particular shop up ahead.
Jily：Don't tell me—
I slowed my steps, murmuring the words to myself, when—
???：That's a very popular chocolate shop.
I jumped in surprise, and turned around.
Standing just nearby by was Robert, the court painter at Wysteria Palace.
Jily：Hello, Robert! I didn't realize you were in town today.
I'd gotten to know Robert during my work as a maid, and he'd always had a kind word for me.
Robert：I had to pay a visit to the art supplies store just next to the chocolate shop.
Robert：Still, look at that queue! Well, I guess it is that time of year.

（Yes, I know... it's almost Valentine's Day.）

I gazed at the queue of women, wondering how each of them would be spending their special Valentine's.
At the same time, an image of his face flashed through my mind.
Robert：Did you come to buy chocolate as well?
Jily：Oh! No, I just—I was asked to run an errand.
Robert：I see. I'm sorry to have bothered you while you're working, then.
Robert：I still have a few things to do myself, so I'll be off. See you later.
Jily：Yes! See you later, Robert.
I waved goodbye, and Robert smiled brightly at me as he turned and walked away.
I turned back and found myself staring at the chocolate shop again.
But after a moment I sighed softly, staring down at my hands.

It was the first time I'd ever truly loved anyone, and I didn't have the courage to just tell him how I felt.

My heart began to race as I imagined what it would feel like to actually say the words aloud, to his face.
I was so distracted by my thoughts I didn't notice the group of children running straight at me.
Jily：Waaah!
I stumbled back as one of them bumped me, and suddenly I was falling.

（Oh no!）
