After setting me down on the sofa, he sat down next to me.
Jily "It doesn't hurt."
I could hear the concern in his voice.
I shook my head as I looked down at my bandaged ankle.
Jily "Thank you so much for carrying me."
Albert "Of course. Please take it easy."
This afternoon, a child had scaled the fence wanting to get a closer glimpse at "the princess."
I'd noticed her just as she was about to fall, and dashed to catch her,
but I'd twisted my ankle while doing so.
Jily "I really caused a lot of trouble for everyone, didn't I?
Jily "I'm just glad that she wasn't harmed."
Relief washed over me again, thankful that the child was safe even if it meant I'd gotten injured.
Albert let out a little sigh from beside me.
Albert "Honestly, what am I going to do with you?
Albert "I wish you would consider your own safety, too."
Despite his stern tone of voice, his eyes were tender with concern.
I met his gaze and nodded deeply.

（Albert helped me all day, and he was extremely worried when I injured myself.）

Jily "All right. I promise to be more careful from now on."
Albert "Good. That will make me feel a little better."
He looked somewhat relieved to hear my response and smiled.

Albert "I was unable to prevent your injury, even though I was there with you."
He lowered his gaze, sounding very serious and apologetic.
Then he seemed to realize something.
Jily "Albert?"
Albert "It's undone."
I followed his gaze down to my ankle.
One of the maids who had been with us bandaged me up, but it was starting to unfurl.

Just then, Albert suddenly stood up from the sofa.
He knelt down in front of me and lightly touched my bandaged ankle.
Albert "May I?"
Jily "What?"
It was unusual for him to be so bold,
and I remembered how regretful he sounded moments ago.

（I think he's blaming himself for my injury.
（It's not his fault, but since he's insisting, I might as well let him.）

I nodded my permission and he carefully removed my shoe to change the bandage.
Every time his fingertips brushed against my foot, my pulse quickened even more.

and his gaze flicked up at me as he finished his task.
He took my hand and planted a kiss on the top of it.

A gasp escaped my lips, taken off guard by the sudden kiss.

His fingers squeezed my hand with his fervent vow, and my heart filled with his love.

I blinked several times, trying to focus on the thick book in front of me.
Then I heard Leo chuckle from beside me.
Leo "Jily, I think you're hitting your limit here."
Jily "...I'm so sorry. You're taking the time to help me, and I'm just falling asleep on you."
I quickly apologized and he smiled with a shake of his head.
Leo "No, it's fine.
Leo "You've been working since this morning and studying for hours now. Don't you think you should rest?"
I was grateful for his concern,
but at the same time I was filled with a renewed burst of enthusiasm.
Jily "Just a little while longer..."
Honestly, I did feel like I was pushing it a little.
Leo reached for the book I was reading.
He placed a bookmark inside and then closed it.
Leo "That's enough for today.
Leo "Part of your job is to take care of yourself, you know."
My heart thudded as his eyes softened gently.

I thought to myself, smiling back at him.

I felt the tips of my ears grow hot at his sudden invitation.

（He wants me to sleep here with him?）

Now my pulse quickened even more, and I walked over to him as if drawn by a magnetic force.
He wrapped both arms tightly around my waist.
Jily "Whoa!"
His embrace took me off guard and I lost my balance, automatically reaching out to grab his shoulders.
He looked up at me with a teasing grin, his face nuzzled against my stomach.
Leo "Your face is bright red. Were you expecting to do something else besides sleep?"
Jily "I never said that."
I denied stubbornly, feeling my face growing hotter by the second.

（He knows exactly what I'm thinking right now.）

A grin broke out across his face as he watched my eyes dart around.
Leo "That's a shame.
Leo "But you're tired anyway, so I'll be good tonight."
He winked at me and then lay me down on the bed, settling me into the crook of his arm.
Leo "I'll hold you until you go to sleep."
His gentle whisper in my ear filled me with contentment.
Jily "Okay."
He began to slowly caress my hair, and we gazed at each other lovingly.
But before long, my fatigue suddenly disappeared, replaced by an urgent pounding of my heart.

（When I'm with him like this, he's always very comforting, but...
（It makes me feel so excited.
（I shouldn't be thinking this...
（We took a break in our studies because I was tired.）

But I certainly wasn't tired anymore.
Suddenly, Leo ceased stroking my hair and spoke in a soft, puzzled voice.

his mouth was on mine, silencing me.

He kissed me over and over again,
then after he pulled away he gazed deeply into my eyes.
Leo "I was thinking maybe we could just kiss some more until you felt tired again."
Jily "I think that's a very good idea..."

（Although I don't think I'm going to be tired again for a while...
（Because when he touches me, I never want him to stop.）

I decided to keep that last bit to myself,
and I smiled as I wrapped my arms around his neck, returning his kisses.

The rich, sweet aroma of caramel filled Sid's room.
A steady stream of tea flowed from the pot as he poured it into my cup.
I watched, transfixed on the elegance of his movements, and suddenly our eyes met.
Jily "Ah..."
Sid "Why are you starin' at me like that?"
Jily "I'm not. You must be imagining things."

（There's no way I'm telling him seeing him like this makes my heart pound.）

I decided to change the subject to take the attention off of me.
Jily "Is that caramel tea?"
Sid "Yep. I bought it when I was traveling."
Sid finished pouring my tea and set it down on the table,
then took a seat across from me.

（It smells amazing.）

I closed my eyes and inhaled the sweet aroma.
There was actually a reason why Sid invited me over for tea today.

Sid "It's getting dark. Let's go back."
Jily "Okay."
I nodded, but deep down I was feeling disappointed.

His fingertips brushed against my chin.
He tipped it up, a smile spreading across his face as our eyes met.

I felt my face flush, and his gaze softened as I searched for the words.
Sid "C'mon. Tell me."
His voice was a low rumble, making my heart beat like wild.
Jily "Hang on a second."

（Oh geez, now what should I say?）

I looked away from him and my eyes settled on a tea shop.
Jily "...I was going to tell you I want to drink tea with you."
I blurted out lamely, trying to find any excuse to stay together.
His eyes swept past me, looking at the store.
Sid "It's closed."
Jily "What?"

（I was so flustered I didn't even realize!）

I let out a sigh of disappointment and then I heard his amused voice above my head.
Sid "Guess we'll just have to go somewhere else to drink it."

And that was why he invited me to his room.
Sid reached out to the cart beside him,
setting a small pitcher of milk on the table.
Jily "Is that for the tea?"
Sid "Yeah, it makes it taste good. You like your tea sweet, right?"
Jily "I do."
I smiled at him as he poured some milk in my tea.

Jily "Why aren't you putting any in yours?"
Sid "It's too sweet for me. This one's yours."

（Wow, he knows I like sweet tea so he got this just for me?）

I was both happy and surprised as I stared at my mug.
I heard him laughing and looked up.
Sid "Don't just stare at it, drink up!"
Jily "Give me a second!"

I really was touched by his thoughtfulness,
and I decided to tell him what I was thinking.

My voice was quiet but sure,

He quipped jokingly and I laughed, too.

I tipped the mug up with both hands to hide the flush on my cheeks.

The gentle expression on his face made my heart skip a beat.
I still had a small knot of worry inside of me about the ceremony.
I chewed on my lip as I cast my gaze downward.

That thought made me even more nervous.
Louis must have sensed my anxiety,
because he gently took my hand in his and squeezed it.
Louis "Your fingers are cold. Are you nervous?"
Jily "A little."
Louis "Hm..."
His eyes searched mine as I expressed my worry to him.
Louis "...May I hug you? You deserve a reward for all your hard work."
Jily "What?"
My pulse quickened at his sudden offer.

Jily "I'm not sure it's fair of me to accept a reward, Louis.
Jily "At least not until the ceremony is over."
I felt my cheeks flush a little,
and he gave me a reassuring smile.

I felt the heat from his lips touching my fingers, and it seemed to spread throughout my entire body, unraveling all the tension.

I realized that I wasn't nervous anymore, and I let out a little giggle.
Then, I felt Louis's lips glide across the palm of my hand, up my arm, and settling at the nape of my neck.

He looked up at me, a teasing lilt in his voice.
The instant our eyes met, my heart started pounding like crazy.

I tried to scoot off his lap, but that only made him hold me even more firmly.

Louis bent his head low, nuzzling against my chest.
My heart swelled at the affectionate gesture.

Jily "I won't leave."
I told him, wrapping my arms around his neck and getting a satisfied smile in return.
Louis "I think we should sleep together tonight.
