Prologue：

This is a story about something very unexpected that happened to us, not that long after we finally got engaged...
It was a calm, peaceful day, and gentle sunlight filtered in through the windows, giving everything a soft glow.
I was headed through the palace towards the library, carrying a diary in my hand.
As I turned a corner, I spotted Leo heading my way down the next corridor.
Leo "Hello there, Jily! You look like you're in a good mood."

（Is it that obvious?）

I gave Leo a rueful smile, but I didn't see any point in hiding how I was feeling.
I showed him the diary I was holding, and I could hear the excitement in my voice as I said,
Jily "I found this diary in a small room that nobody ever uses, in the back corner of the palace."
Leo "A diary?"
Leo stepped closer, his expression curious as he reached out to open the cover of the old, worn diary I held in my hands.
His eyes widened as soon as he spotted the name written there.
Leo "I know this name—this is the name of a former princess, isn't it?"
Jily "It is!"
The name written proudly inside the cover of the diary was the name of a princess who'd held the position long before I had.
The diary was filled with stories about her days living in the palace as the princess, and all the things that had happened.
Jily "She wrote about something that got me really curious, so I'm heading to the library to see if I can find out more about it.
Jily "She said she went inside a picture book there, and it took her to different places that were important to her and her beloved."
Leo "She went inside a picture book? That sounds like something straight out of a fairytale."
Jily "I know! But... doesn't it make you wonder?"
The princess had written about how she and her prince consort had lost their way inside the book, unsure how to get free.
But then they'd apparently found something that was particularly dear to them both, and it had helped them get home.

（For all I know, the whole thing was nothing more than some fever dream the princess had.
（But I can't help being curious! And besides—）

Jily "She said she was happy, in the end, because she learned more about what her prince was feeling, and it brought them closer.
Jily "And it just got me thinking. I mean, my prince and I have created so many memories together, too.
Jily "I'd like to learn more about what he's feeling, and get closer to him, too."
Leo laughed softly, his expression gentle as he met my gaze.
Leo "Well, you're not wrong—a lot has happened to the two of you.
Leo "But despite all that, you're both clearly very happy now.
Leo "So happy it almost makes me jealous sometimes."
Leo winked at me, his tone openly teasing, and then looked down at the diary in my hands again.
Leo "Still, regardless of whether the princess's tale about the picture book is true or not—
Leo "I think it's a good thing to look back on the memories you've shared together, and appreciate them anew.
Leo "I hope you find what you're looking for in the library."
Jily "Thanks, Leo."
I waved goodbye to Leo as I hurried off down the corridor towards the library.
I soon found the picture book the princess had written about, but it wasn't what I was expecting at all.

（This must be it—the cover matches her description. But all the pages are blank! There's no pictures, no story, nothing!）

I stared down at the book in my hands, flipping the pages again and again as I searched for a page that wasn't blank.
Suddenly I heard the library door opening, and I looked up to see my prince stepping into the room, but just as our eyes met—
Jily "What the—?!"
The blank page I was touching suddenly went soft under my fingers, warping inwards, and my hand seemed to slide right into it.
I stared down at it in disbelief, too confused to know whether to pull back or try and reach in further.
But before I could make up my mind, a bright white light engulfed me, until it was all I could see...
