Leo took the stack of parchment Louis offered him with a smile.
Louis：Updating you on the state of my domain is part of my duty, after all...
Louis's gaze settled on something in the room,
and he cocked his head to one side curiously.
Louis：That's unusual.
Leo：Hm?
Leo followed his gaze to the plate that rested on his desk.
There was a delicious looking scone on the plate, a perfect shade of light brown.
Leo：Yes, I tend to not eat while I'm working. I'm not Giles, after all.
Leo：But a maid brought it in for me after I helped her carry something earlier.
Leo：She said she wanted to thank me.

Leo：We have a lot of great bakers in the castle, hm?

Startled, Nico lifted his gaze.

Alyn and Giles walked side by side towards Nico.
Alyn：What're you reading? You were totally spaced out.

Nico flipped the book around to show them the title— Gentle Discipline.
Nico：Chirol's been so bad lately. He won't listen to me at all!
Giles：Chirol... Oh, that squirrel you've been taking care of?
Alyn：Hmm... Well, do you think it'll help?
Nico：Yes. This part right here in particular was really interesting.
Nico spread open the book and pointed to a passage.
Alyn：Let's see... 'The difference between anger and discipline'?
Nico：Since animals can pick up on your emotions,
Nico：you shouldn't just get angry at them. You should stay calm and discipline them gently.
Giles：I see. That is definitely one way of approaching things.
Nico：You two are both really good at discipline.
Nico：Sir Alyn always keeps the knights in line, and Giles is a good tutor.
Alyn：...It's not about being good or bad at it.
Giles：Ah, that's not quite true.

The wind carried the lush scent of the forest through the gardens one sunny afternoon.
Robert was standing in front of a canvas, paintbrush in hand.
He heard footsteps approaching and lifted his gaze from the painting.
Robert：Oh, Byron!
Byron spotted Robert and walked over to him.
Robert：I didn't know you were in Wysteria. On an official visit?
Byron：Yes.
Byron's eye was trained intently on the painting as he replied.
A faint smile crossed his lips as he spoke softly.
Byron：I always think of the same thing when I see you painting.
Robert：What's that?
Byron：Painting in your studio with Nico and Al.
Robert：Ah, that really takes me back.
Robert narrowed his eyes fondly as he gazed up at the clear blue sky, and Byron nodded quietly.
Robert：I have a lot of good memories about that time, too. But there's one in particular I always remember.
Robert：I'd pat you on the head and tell you what a wonderful job you were doing,
Robert：then all of a sudden Nico and Albert got these determined looks on their faces and started painting really intently.
Byron：That's right...
Robert：Then I'd pat their heads and compliment them. I can still picture those big smiles on their faces like it was just yesterday.
Robert：I was so happy because it felt like I had three little brothers.
The nostalgic smile on Robert's face deepened.
Robert：That reminds me of someone else who loved to get compliments with a head pat.
Byron：The princess of Wysteria?
Robert：That's right... How did you know?
Byron：I heard you used to tutor her, too.
Robert：That's right. When she did a good job with her studies, I'd always pat her head.
Robert：And then she'd give me the biggest smile.
Robert：...I wonder how she'd react if I did that today?
Robert murmured as if he were talking to himself.

Albert bowed his head politely to Rayvis,
who quietly nodded and started to walk away.
???：Hm? Didn't know you were here, Rayvis.
The two of them turned in the direction of the familiar deep voice.
Sid was striding towards them, his trademark confident smile on his face.
Rayvis：Haven't seen you in a while. Not since the Marquis of Wysteria's party, I think?
Sid：Yep.
Albert：What are you doing here? You do not have an audience scheduled with King Byron.
Sid paused in front of them,
his smile deepening in response to Albert's question.
Sid：Not here to talk to Byron.
Sid：And that's all I'm gonna say about it.
Albert：I see your penchant for secrets hasn't changed.
Sid：Part of the job.
Sid：Not that I go around blabbing personal things, either.
Sid：I only tell my secrets to people I trust.
Albert：People you trust, eh? So someone you've sworn loyalty to, like King Byron.
Sid：Or a woman I love.
Albert：Wha—?!
Rayvis：Hm...
Rayvis：I can understand being able to show all of yourself to someone you love.
Albert：Not you too, Archduke...
Rayvis：Oh please, Albert.
Rayvis：As if you don't have someone you care for like that, too?
Rayvis：BESIDES King Byron?

Albert stammered as Sid gave him a teasing look.
He quickly shifted his gaze as Rayvis stared at him expectantly.
Albert：...I don't believe I have to tell you that.
Rayvis：True.
Rayvis turned away from the two of them, his expression impassive.
Rayvis：Well, I need to get back.
Albert：Of course. Thank you again.
Rayvis responded with a nod and continued down the hallway.
Sid raised an eyebrow as he watched him walk away.
Sid：I dunno, he seems like he's got his fair share of secrets, too.
Albert：...I agree with that sentiment.
Sid and Albert watched Rayvis depart,
his cloak fluttering as he turned and disappeared into the night...
