The night sky was hidden by a thick covering of clouds, and cold raindrops pelted down, tapping at the window panes.
Leo had finished his work for the evening and was heading back to his room.
But halfway there he spotted a familiar face, frowning in obvious annoyance as he tried in vain to brush water off his jacket.
Leo "What's the matter, Sid? You're soaking wet."
Sid "Can't ya tell by lookin' out the window? It just started raining all of a sudden."
Leo "You're right—it's weird that it just started bucketing down like that. It's been clear skies all night."
Leo glanced over at the window, studying the tiny drops beading on the glass and flowing downwards.
Then he turned to a maid who was quietly passing them by.
Leo "Do you have a moment?
Leo "As you can see, Sid's run into a problem. Can you get him something to dry off with?"
Maid "Of course, my Lord."
Sid watched the maid departing out of the corner of his eye as he shrugged out of his jacket.
Sid "You're way too considerate—as always."
Leo "However I may seem to you, I am still a bureaucrat.
Leo "Besides, you're on your way to see Giles, right?
Leo "If you turn up looking like that, I bet he's gonna scowl at you."
Sid "I agree.
Sid "But I reckon I that's all the more reason just go in like this—payback for always working me so hard."
Leo "I'm not gonna recommend it, but I have to admit, I wouldn't mind seeing the look on his face as you drip water all over his floor.
Leo "Besides, being drenched like that doesn't always have to be a bad thing, you know."
Instead of replying, Sid simply gave Leo a dubious look, one eyebrow raised.
But Leo only laughed in response and kept talking.
Leo "No, really. In one foreign language I've been studying, they say 'a man who looks good wet', and it means he's very handsome."
Sid "Huh? Is that some kinda metaphor?"
Leo "Maybe. But I was thinking more along the lines of being dripping wet in front of the woman you love.
Leo "I mean, wouldn't she think it was sexy?"
Sid "Sexy?
Sid "There's plenty of ways to make a woman think you're sexy without having to get wet."
Leo "You're thinking something dirty right now, aren't you?"
Sid "Like you can talk."
Leo "Well, you're not wrong."
Sid was snickering, and Leo chuckling, when the maid returned and offered Sid a towel.
Sid "Sorry."
Maid "Not at all, my Lord."
As soon as Sid took the towel, the maid curtseyed and hurried away again.
Sid rubbed the towel brusquely over his hair, and his expression changed suddenly, as if he'd thought of something.
Sid "She does react best when I'm wet."
Leo "Did you say something?"
Sid "Not a thing.
Sid "I'd better get goin'. Seeya."
Sid smirked, lifting one hand in a casual wave as he sauntered off down the corridor.
Leo watched him leave, grinning suddenly as he turned away.
Leo "She certainly looks even sexier when she's dripping wet."
The murmured words were soon lost amidst the drumming of the rain on the windows, and the distant rumble of thunder...

【Bonus for 220 Ballots】

It was a warm, comfortable day, the sort of day when the afternoon sun just begged you to curl up and take a nap.
But instead of being outside enjoying the weather, Giles and Albert were cooped up in Giles's room.
The two men were having a long, involved discussion about an upcoming meeting between Wysteria and Stein.
Giles "Very well. Shall we go ahead and hold the meeting one month from now, as originally planned?"
Albert sat across from Giles at the desk, his expression serious as he nodded.
Albert "Yes. And we will arrange the meeting place."
Giles "I'd appreciate that."
They were just finalizing the last details when a scratching sound at the door interrupted them.
Albert "What on earth is that?"
Giles "Don't worry. It's nothing suspicious."
Giles smiled, his expression friendly as he crossed the room and opened the door.
The first thing that came into view on the far side of the door was a long tail, swishing slowly back and forth.
Albert "A... cat?"
Giles "Yes. Sometimes he visits me here in my room.
Giles "Michelangelo. I'm sure I've told you countless times not to disturb me here when I'm working."
Michelangelo gave a soft meow, almost as if replying, and then sauntered straight into the room all the same.
Giles "Really."
Giles shook his head as he gave a long-suffering sigh.
By the time he'd shut the door, Michelangelo had already curled up in a sunny spot by the window.
Giles "He likes to take an afternoon nap in here when he's in the mood.
Giles "I don't doubt he and the princess have been keeping each other company."
Albert "The princess?"
Giles "Yes. Michelangelo seems to be fond of honest, open people."
Albert "Well... the princess of Wysteria is certainly honest. Almost too honest, at times."
Giles "I do worry about her occasionally, but I also think it's one of the things that makes her such a good princess."
Giles sat down in his chair again, but when he turned to Albert, he found him staring directly at the cat.
Giles "Are you not a cat person?"
Albert "Oh, it's not that. It's just that he clearly seems quite attached to you.
Albert "I was wondering how long you've had him for."
Giles "Well, he certainly is attached to me.
Giles "But Michelangelo isn't my cat. He doesn't belong to anyone."
Albert "Wha—?! For him to be this attached to you, when he's not even yours...
Albert "Clearly you are just as skilled at handling animals as you are at handling people."
Giles "I'm honored to hear you praise me so highly.
Giles "But you yourself are a very honest man—I don't doubt that animals are fond of you as well."
Albert "Err..."
Albert opened his mouth and then closed it again, looking suddenly uncomfortable.
He cleared his throat quickly, reaching up to push his glasses further up his nose.
Albert "I think that's enough about that.
Albert "I will inform His Majesty of the final details for the meeting as soon as possible."
Albert stood up hastily from his chair, and turned towards the door.
Instead of saying anything, Giles simply smiled and stood up as well.
Giles "I'll see you off, then.
Giles "Michelangelo, wait here until I return, won't you?"
Michelangelo's tail swished slowly, but his eyes remained closed, and Giles smiled ruefully.
Giles followed Albert to the door, and soon the two men left the room and its gentle sunbeams behind them...
